Our Story

I grew up believing that being outside was where life happened.

Weekend hikes. Camping trips. Exploring trails with friends. Long walks with the dog. It's where I feel most at home.

But over the years, the outdoors started to come with a different feeling—concern.

My brother-in-law lives with Lyme disease.

So does his mother.

Watching two people I care about navigate the lasting effects of a tick-borne illness changed the way I thought about something that most of us brush off as just another bug bite.

A tick bite isn't always just a tick bite.

It can change the course of someone's life.

That realization stayed with me.

Whenever I headed out on a trail or into the woods, I found myself reaching for bug sprays that I didn't love using. Many relied on harsh chemicals, strong odors, or left my skin feeling sticky. I wanted something I would actually enjoy bringing along—something I could use every time I stepped outside.

So I decided to create it.

Scout was built around a simple idea:

Create a premium, naturally derived tick spray that people actually want to use.

One that's effective, thoughtfully made, and feels just as at home in your backpack as your water bottle or field guide.

Every ingredient was chosen with intention. Every bottle is made in the USA. Every detail—from the formula to the packaging—was designed to encourage one simple habit: protect yourself before you head outside.

Because while we can't control every risk on the trail, we can be better prepared for it.

Our goal has never been to keep people indoors.

It's the opposite.

We want more people hiking, camping, exploring, gardening, and making memories outside—with a little more confidence and a little less worry.
